Intersectional Innovation & Healing Democracy

Intersectional Innovation & Healing Democracy

Our September forum delved into the topics of technology, justice, and capitalism. During our discussions, we explored the potential role of technologists in healing democracy and fostering intersectional innovation. Additionally, we examined the intricate relationship between the tech sector and capitalism, and how this dynamic impacts the ongoing pursuit of accountability.

Our speakers have navigated these persistent challenges through a variety of efforts, they shared their perspectives, highlighted some promising efforts, and offered insights on what leaders -- especially technologists -- could do to support a democracy where all people from all backgrounds could fully participate.

Participants heard from Prentis Hemphill and Jessica Quiason. Prentis has spent the last 15 years bridging wellbeing and power building as a part of movement building organizations, most recently as the Healing Justice Director at Black Lives Matter Global Network. Jessica is a Senior Research Analyst at the Action Center on Race and the Economy, or ACRE. She builds campaigns that dismantle corporate power structures that oppress people of color and low income people.
